The Circle of Life

We are Catholic young people building a Culture of Life in southern Louisville with a strong devotion to the Eucharist through Consecration to Our Blessed Mother.

Seen in various Native American cultures throughout the world, the “Circle of Life” is known as the “all encompassing symbol of the entire world.”

But when seen in light of the Gospel, the “Circle of Life” is known as the “Source and Summit” of our Catholic Faith, literally in the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, the EUCHARIST!

Equally significant to the Native Americans was the Number 4, seen in the 4 seasons, 4 directions, and 4 elements, but again–in light of the Tradition of the Catholic Church–this is seen in the FOUR PILLARS of the Catechism (Faith, Commandments, Sacraments, and Prayer).

It goes a step further concerning our personal formation in regards to God’s greatest commandment, taken from the Gospel of Mark 12:30.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.”

Therefore, it is the mission of the Circle of Life to immerse kids in this deep formation, fostering environments of emotional accountability, spiritual training, intellectual fortitude, and social fulfillment. This is seen in youth rallies, retreats, conferences, mission trips, pilgrimages, workshops, and weekly gatherings / prayer experiences.

A DEVOTION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

Interestingly, the Circle of Life has become the “Cornerstone” of our endeavors, and it flows through the intercession of Our Lady Queen of Victory, also known as Our Lady of the Rosary. We received the official World Meeting of Families Missionary Rosary at the 8th International Gathering in Philadelphia with Pope Francis in September, 2015. Notice it’s the same colors as the Circle of Life symbol, including the Papal yellow background!

THE DEPTH OF GOODNESS, TRUTH, AND BEAUTY

This is beyond cool, for the Eucharist is the very means by which

we are building up each initiative and community outreach event. It’s the very means by which these young people find inspiration and motivation by which to bring God’s LOVE to the world!

Mary Shepardson, a student at EKU, drew this depiction of the Circle of Life, having been inspired by the logo from its inception. She simply chose scriptural accounts she felt brought LIFE to the world, but looking more closely you can see all four mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary!

The Nativity of our Lord = Joyful Mysteries

The Crucifixion = Sorrowful Mysteries

The Baptism in the Jordan = Luminous Mysteries

The Resurrection = Glorious Mysteries

Oh, yes–there is MUCH more to come as the months and years progress for these inspiring young people, the Circle of Life Youth Movement, God’s Will be done!
